The Dog and Partridge, Preston

Love this place, always very friendly, and normally two guest cask ales on plus a couple of regulars. Cheap food at lunch time, and actually very child friendly in the day too. Oh, and not forgetting the decent beer garden in the back and the very good juke box. Toilets could do with being freshened up a bit but other than that this is pretty much perfect.

The Market Tavern, Preston

I used to love this place, and have had it on my city centre real ale crawl for around a decade since moving to Preston. The beer is good (cask, bottled selection and Erdinger wheat beer on draft, lovely!), the location excellent, as is the internal feel of the pub. The problem? The woman who is normally behind the bar who has been there as a long as I can remember has got progressively more miserable as the years have gone by. What is worse if you are not one of the daily regulars don't expect to get served any time soon as she will deliberate ignore you for as long as possible. So if she is behind the bar my advice is to just walk past and go to the far more welcoming and friendly Black Horse around the corner!
