Ely, Blackwater
Reading the reviews for this pub I wonder whether we're all talking about the same place? As one of my local pubs I've been there a fair few times, (a few nights ago in fact) and enjoyed all my visits. It's never very very busy (which some people might find lacks atmosphere) which I prefer as you don't have to fight to get served and you can hear yourself think!
The food is always of a really high standard (and not just your typical dull British pub fare) although not especially cheap I'll admit. The interior of the pub is kind of a modern spin on traditional pubs, with hard wood flooring, large bar area and leather sofas/arm chairs. I've never sat in the dining area so can't comment on this, but the seating/tables in the main bar are very comfortable and no background music to bother you or TVs playing whatever football match is on (again probably why it's a quieter pub). It always looks clean and the bathrooms are well maintained. The garden isn't massive, but has some nice shady spots to sit in when the weather's nice. Overall a nice experience if you like to be able to enjoy a drink and sit and talk without interruption or distraction.
