Food isn't fantastic quality, although it's not bad value for money.

Don't have anything in the way of beer to offer, and the clientele tend to be scum.

You'd be much better off visiting Jar Bar just 100 yards down the hill and experiencing a good pint of Hydes.

The Merchants House, Macclesfield

This pub was taken over by new management in December 2004 and any readers who were familier with the views in the last post (as I was) should give it another try.

The problems that had often been experienced with the overpriced and under quality food have now gone (although the previous team are operating elsewhere in Macc, be warned!) and the pub now serves good value down to earth food.

The beer is well presented, although the choice is limited to the Robinsons range. This isn't so bad as the landlord tries hard to ensure that Robin, Old Stockport and XB are available alongside the locally common Unicorn and Hatters.
