The Old Fox, Birmingham

Called in on Monday afternoon (12th Dec) and was very disappointed. Only 2 beers on and my pint was average!
The barmaid was not very friendly and there was a bucket and cleaning materials on the bar all the time that we were there with no attempt made to tidy the place up.
Worst of all was the smell in the gents toilet. Will definitely give this pub a wide berth on future visits to Brum.

The Canalside Cafe, Birmingham

Called on Monday afternoon (12th Dec) and was very disappointed! Beer OK but sourpuss of a barmaid did not smile or make us at all welcome - in fact she was rude. Seemed to have had no training and should not be working in a service industry!
One other point was that there were small flies or midges in there and when I had finished my pint I noticed that there were 4 of them on my glass. Doesn't say much for the cleanliness of the place!

The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham

Went to Brum for Football (BCFC of course!) followed by a pub crawl in Digbeth and the City Centre. Always try to find a new pub and saw that the Lamp Tavern had good reviews on Beer in the Evening.
Called there on Saturday for a 'nightcap' on way back to the hotel and ended up staying until the early hours chatting to the staff and other punters. To say that Eddie made us welcome is an understatement! They had a good selection of well-kept local ales and Eddie astounded us all by bringing out an enormous pork pie for us.
Will definitely call again and tell my friends. Back in Brum with my partner in a couple of weeks but unfortunately our boys footie trip will not be for another year.
