The Leather Bottle, Earlsfield

In response to the kiddies playground disappearing:

Apparently (and correct me if I'm wrong, Matt), this is due to too many uncaring parents not looking after their sprogs properly whilst drinking too much and then blaming accidents, and their blinkered faults, on the pub itself (WBC Health & Safety interveend, by all accounts).

Even though the playgroud has gone, the sign by the area still states injuries and accidents are not accountable to the staff or management. H & S have gone a little too far on this one as far as I am concerned but when you have enough idiots complain, it ruins the fun for the majority.

I, personally, am not a lover of children but, having working in this pub ten years ago, have always appreciated the value of having a family venue where you can sometimes offload the kids for a few minutes/hours as long as you keep your eye on them whilst enjoying some "free time".

So, to end my little rant, which is what this has now become, bring back the playground (and the annual August Fun Day too, the last one was in 1997???)
