The Boathouse, Widbrook

We went to this pub on a Monday evening for my son's birthday. We come here maybe twice or three times a year and have always found it pleasant enough. There is the wonderful pirate ship for the children to play on and last night there was a bouncy castle as well. For a Monday evening, there were a surprisingly high number of customers, most of whom were eating. The addition of a free salad bar was a real bonus. Our meals were really very nice, the burgers were generously sized and imaginatively presented. My steak was the nicest I have had in a long time, tender, delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were attentive and helpful, and the landlord was welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed looking out over the marina, watching a heron fishing at close range. All in all, a really lovely couple of hours, and I would highly recommend this pub.
