Profile information

Coopers Sparkling Ale is by far the best alcoholic beverage to come out of Australia. It is brewed in Adelaide and is a staple dietary requirement of many South Australians. As the ABV is 5.8%, a pint is approximately the RDI per day (recommended dietary intake) of this particular beverage. Mind you, a six-pack of stubbies of an evening will get you over the day's woes and certainly send you off to a blissful sleep without a hangover in the morning and will give you that same blissed-out feeling that, say, a good bottle of Barossa Valley red will do, and for about the same amout of coin.

The Wheatsheaf, Ealing

Shame they revamp'd this local. It was just fine the way it was. Fullers make great ales but they ain't got a clue when it comes to pub "restoration" and re-design. Their beer remains brill. Why can't their pubs?

Plough, Alperton

"grotty" is definitely the word. However, loved dropping in to this pub on the way to work (at the truly dismal F&G down the road) for a fortifying pint or two of Guinness. Also spent a bit of time chatting up local and aussie chicks while playing pool of an evening at the Plough, which bcame my local as was not allowed to drink at my place of work. The scot publican who was there when I used to drink there was a great bloke and great to talk to, but glenn, who I also met, was an absolute tossser.

The Black Rabbit, Offham

They killed this pub when they re-vamp'd it back in 03-ish. Prior to that it was divine. A pint of tasty Black Rabbit ale on a clear autumn day by the river was one of my first memorable English ale experiences. Now it is just a tourist-y nightmare. Why?: make lots of coin by ripping off summer tourists. The castle is an awesome place to visit, and as an aussie I must admit to being an avid tourist myself, but after coming back to the BR after the refurb I was not impressed. Sorry to repeat myself, labour the point. It was an eight, now its half that.
