The Jolly Cricketers, Seer Green

I do hope the owners read this: I used to be a big fan of this pub. Great food at sensible prices. I especially loved the chips. I ate here this week and was horrified at the prices. OK if you're eating in the evening, but not lunch. I ended up choosing a burger for �11, which used to be �8, and it turned up looking very lonley on a flat platter, in a nice bun with one lettuce leaf (dressed) and a pickle. All great, but it looks stingy. No tomato like the old one, although it did have a scoop of yummy onion relish. The burger itself was ok, but not the home-made type that you often hope for when you pay that much. We had been asked if we wanted cheese, and were charged �1 for the pleasure. The chips turned up in a tin; they were very well cooked, but there were only about ten of them, and I mourned for the old slightly sweet fresh cut ones they used to serve in a generous bowl.

We were the only diners at 1.30, so maybe I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Please do a lunch menu with better prices and more generous helpings! I applaud your effort at makig the pub gourmet, but it is not a London restaurant! You are verging on the pretentious. Seer Green is the least pretentious village I know, so please go back to what you were doing so well!
