The Maesllwch Arms Hotel, Glasbury

This fantastic pub was bought by Enterprise Inns in Feb 2005. It has gone steadily downhill since then, with a succession of at least 5 tenants in 4 years, all of whom were clearly out of their depth. It has now been closed for at least 3 months and rumours abound. This village now has only one pub left.

The Manor Arms, Broughton in Furness

I visited this proper pub in May 2009 on my way to a family wedding. The choice of ales was fantastic, and as I only had limited time, I had 2 pints of the Yates' bitter. This was an excellent drink, made all the more pleasurable by being sold at �1.90 a pint. This is a real beer drinkers pub in the best traditions of the trade. A must if one is visiting the area, or, as I was, just passing through.
