i'm sure if blue scrumpy had asked for his beer to be changed it would have been. it sounds like he suffered in silence in his own little world. sad. death to all rockers..good un ya!

bar does need a refurb. i'm sure the landlord would welcome changing rooms coming in. the bogs are clean but do have a "marine" odour sometimes..shades of grimsby.

the lazy git doesn't open much these days just thursdays to sundays generally.
thursday is comedy night where the landlord does his crap impersonation of bruce forsythe and introduces up to 9 acts(not rockers usually). it s a random night that can entertain on many levels...if u don't like it..go in the lounge(not so refurb needed)..if the tight git has turned the heating on!

positve note....only usually carries 1/2 real ale(s) that is pretty much sure to be tip top...either millstone tiger rut, woods quaff or lass or teme valley. nice.

fri/sat tends to be a gig night or private party in one room...but its safe and relaxed generally.

used to be in the camra good beer guide for 3 years but after reducing the no. of beers on to improve the quality the range isn't enough for the big ale'ers + he's hardly ever open..fair play to um.

The White Swan, Digbeth

i visited the swan on wed 23rd feb. i bought a pint of banks's mild which i have been drinking for over 20 years.

the beer was turning to the vinegar stage. the landlady refused to swop it for another pint(i had one sip). she also refused to try it as apparently she doesn't like mild. strange but true. when i questioned her decision she offered me a half in replacement. i turned her down. the camra rep standing next to me wouldn't comment.

shame because the pub is immaculate, beautiful in fact.

but if a landlady doesn't like beer and can't change a pint when its obviously off the cleaners and maintanance wages count for nothing.

i had to take a pint back years ago...but that was changed so isn't worth mentioning.

i've never reviewed on one of these things before and probably won't again but i was quite frankly and rightly brassed off wot!
