After reading the earlier comments I went into the white bear on friday afternoon expecting the worst but got even more shocked.
What on earth were the new owners thinking??? They have ripped and destroyed a part of british "culture". The place looks like an exibithion space of Ikea. I know time moves on, things change but is it really that bad to keep bits and pieces the way they were and maybe "modernise" in a sensitive way?
I knew this place really well and I'm utterly sad to it that way.
And to the people who have been arguing in the last comments about money and whose fault it is: stop arguing! it's too late anyway- just have a look around your area and maybe try to support your hopefully still existing "local". Otherwise the british pub culture will soon be a boring wannabe stylish exibithion Ikea space all togehter!!

well again and again I keep walking past that place and glad to read that most of the customers are still enjoying it.
anyone seen a black cat there recently? and what's with another german barmaid there, thought that didn't exist anymore?
