The Waggon and Horses, Hartley Wintney

This is a wonderful pub. It's small, and a bit dark, but there's usually a fire on and plenty of chat to be had. The locals are very friendly, the staff are excellent, and the beer is dependably good. No need to drink the Courage, as there's always at least one guest. There's cards, dominoes and a crib board if you want, and in the summer the secluded beer garden is excellent. Trust me, you'll love it.

The White Lion, Clerkenwell

I've been a weekly visitor to this pub for about nine years, and it's excellent. I play football first, then spend the rest of the evening here, and it's a cracking pub. The landlord and landlady are both genuinely nice people, and they have a knack for hiring really good staff. You can always talk to anyone else in there, which is a good sign. If it was my local, I'd probably be in there most nights.
