The Davenport Arms, Woodford

Visited the Davenport Arms last night to meet two friends who had cycled there, first sat out in the garden and then moved inside. When we got up to leave at 11.35pm (and we weren't the last to leave) the door to the toilets had been locked and the barman refused to allow access. I couldn't believe it in this day and age. Would be very reluctant to visit this pub again and will not recommend.

I think I must have been unlucky judging from the reviews above, but when I visited (march 2011) the pub was cold, the barman uncommunicative to the point of being unfriendly, the service was incredibly slow, I was ignored by the landlord (he wasn't signed into the computer - which takes how long???) and the food poor for the money. The (grated supermarket) cheese and tomato sandwich (�5.25) had no butter and consequently fell apart. If you're a local you are probably well looked after (two were served in front of me while I waited nearly 10 mins to order food).
