St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets
We are a young family who went for late Friday lunch at this pub and ordered food (from a very overpriced menu) and 2 rounds of drinks.
Our son woke from his sleep partway though our meal and got out of his buggy to stretch his legs and shortly afterwards we were asked to leave. He did make the odd excited squeal (and I have an issue with unruly children / indifferent parents as much as any other restaurant or pub goer) but this in no way justified the rudeness of the staff & I have never been treated so badly in 25 years of pub going and certainly have never been asked to leave!!
There was no subtle "do you mind moving to the garden" or any other attempt to treat us like customers. Instead we were treated like criminals by the objectionable staff member.
The place was nearly empty and if other customers are treated with such a lack of respect I can understand why.
I see now there are many postings recommending alternative pubs nearby and you should try them in preference to the St Margarets Tavern.
If this pub wasn't in such a prominent position it wouldn't survive. Go on, walk the extra block to the Turk's Head, The Crown or the White Swan (my favourite local) which is only 10 minutes walk away & right by the Thames.
The guest ale was nice but you can get a decent pint at the White Swan. Minus the attitude.

Bradleys, Fitzrovia
One of my favourite pubs of all time.
Now, this tiny little pub will not be to everyone's taste but the Spanish beer is welcome and the atmosphere and truly eclectic music on the ancient jukebox is what it's all about.
Just to reiterate a recent poster, food is not served here though if the other recent poster experienced some kind of timewarp that dropped them back 10 years or so it would of course have been possible to grab some taps. In such a timeless establishment, anything is possible....
Be prepared to squeeze in as tight as possible on the limited seating, that's the way it works here, and meet your fellow drinkers in a way that just doesn't happen anywhere else.
The toilets are also just part of the experience.
Unique.
