The Cricketers, Guildford

Not the place to go if you're into real ale. Despite having four or five decent sounding ales available you wonder what on earth the cellarman does with it. I suppose cloudy is his speciality. He could do with reading the CAMRA magazine that's available in the pub and visiting some of the highly rated pubs in it. A clear, almost shining beer always shows that someone cares for what they are selling. Not so at the Cricketers - high prices and a cloudy glass that is begrudgingly topped up to make a full pint is what you get here. Don't know about the food - if it's as bad as the smell that fills the bar and then your clothes.....................!! If you want decent well-kept beer at this end of Guildford go to the Royal Oak at Wood Street. You'll also benefit from a warm welcome from a landlord who cares.
