The Queens Arms, Hammersmith

The refurbishment has been a huge improvement but, given the state of the place before, that's not saying much...
The beers are fine but pricey, the food is good but incredibly expensive for what you get, and it's the type of pub where you can't order a plate of chips without eating a main course because they think it looks tacky.

Not a bad place for a pint but fairly pretentious and the clientel enjoy a good bray

The Sun on the Hill, Birmingham

I went in for a drink and some food and it took 20 minutes to be served despite being fairly empty. The lights kept on being put on full beam above us and then flickering out. The bar staff were ill-tempered and more intent on watching the TV than serving or looking at their customers waiting to be served. The food was cheap but rank and the cistern in the men's urinals was diconnected from the urinals and so the toilets stank of urine...

Not to be recommended
