The Phelips Arms, Montacute

very dissapointed with this pub, we had heard that they had good food and it was local.

Lovely looking pub, but a very uninspired menu. I had the "seared tuna" from the menu (�9.50)which was inedible due to it being cooked to within an inch of it life, a can of tuna would have been more palatable.
my wife then found an inch long catterpilla in her salad, redering the rest of her lunch inedible.

no massive issues there, you may say, neutralised by an apology and maybe the two soft drinks removed from the bill. however when i highlighted the issues to the landlady - no apologies were offered from the chef (the landlady's husband) for the bug in the salad or the state of the tuna, and it was explained that that was the way most people wanted there "seared tuna" cooked - would have been nice to have the choice though! and why describe it as "SEARED" i.e. pink in the middle.

The customer service was lacking so much that i felt compelled to post this review. had a token discount or even an apology been offered this could have been avoided.
I hope this was a one-off or bad day, as I am sure i would be along in giving this pub a wide berth - Shame!
