The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

Good location and nice outdoor area by the river. However 3/4 ales were off when we went. When we came back later at 10.15 (on a Saturday) we were told there was no more service at the bar and we'd just missed last orders. When we asked the landlord why we got the shouted response 'because I said so!'. Definitely won't go back.

The Hoop and Toy, South Kensington

This place has just had a refurb. The result is surprisingly good considering the state it was before. Still quite traditional (which is good) but it's clean and not so dingy now with wooden floor boards and new furniture. Worth a visit if you're at South Ken tube.
