Yep, 4 years old report. I've moved from ZaNuLabour's England to Oulu, Finland. (Where else can I get �1500/month dole ;-)
But, if Derek's still running it, and he keeps a tight ship, it would be worth an exploratory visit.

Hope Derek and Anthea are still running it.
Damn good venue. Great food, but I was a bit amazed when Derek sold out to a chain, who required the staff to 'weigh the portion of peas'! Godalmighty, I'm on the dole, and when I cook, I just chuck a handful in the pan. Same as chips..
Still, if it's like it was 4 years ago, a must-visit.
Food excellent. Decor, staff, clientele, ditto. Won't be regretted, trust me.

The Standard of England, Ash

Moderate boozer.
Having moved to Finland, I haven't visited for maybe 4 years. The owner (John?) told me he was quite ill at the time, so maybe he's passed away. His son, Glenn tried to run it, but liked to smack the customer's heads in rather than run a pub.
Hope it's in better hands now.
