This is a lovely, open, place to be. But, yes, it's London in a box, but without any of the London buzz. That may, or may not, be to your taste. Personally, working in London and having escaped 20 years of life there, I can't bring myself to like it.
Several food eating experiences have been terrible, with staff being about as engaging as a carrot having a philosophical debate with Penelope Keith. In fact, the serving staff seemed to be more interested (as is the way, nowadays!!) with txtng m8s abt gng out tnt 2 gt psd in EG innit. I have had cold, unappreciated contact with breakfast, where I felt like a leper, and several dinners and drinking experiences that were less than fantastic.
That said, one of the members of staff - just one mind you - did smile and say something. I think it was "oh, you want to pay your bill? Oh. DIdn't they come to the table?"
What a shame.

The revamp has worked - to an extent - but I can't ever leave without feeling slightly disappointed. The massive sandwiches are fun, but I've always avoided other food. Wines and beers are there - and you can drink them.
Killer here is the fantastic lake (which can give flies in your eyes in the summer months!) but it really is a lovely, calming place to be: if you can get a table!

Oh legs2x11 - come along now. Get with Modern Culture. The refit is great! Nice and open, glass, wood, chrome, more glass, more wood...! And a lovely bar. Personally, I like it.
I'm sad to hear that the food has deteriorated, as I always rather rated it both for food and for the great selection of beers and wines. (Perhaps he skipped off to the other one they've got over near Crawley?)
Great to sit out the back in the summer, back from the road.
