Just returned home from holiday in Cornwall. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to the Heron Inn, the first occasion was going to be just a lunch visit which ran into a whole afternoon! The views across the river are idyllic and can be enjoyed from the terrace outside the pub and although the pub was quite busy there are plenty of tables available. There is an excellent menu available and our order was well cooked and well served, good wine selection and the men enjoyed the 'Proper Job' and 'Tribute' local ales, worthy of mention at this juncture is the barmaid, she seemed to have eight arms and dealt with food and drink orders in unflappable style. There had to be a drawback and its parking, the first time we took the advice of the local rag and enjoyed a fantastic cruise from Falmouth to Malpas the second time we drove and to say that parking is at a premium is to understate the case. We look forward to returning next year.

The City Inn (Tavern An Dre), Truro
Our husbands decided to abandon us to seek out the City Inn for a 'swift half' while we continued shopping - they reappeared two and a half hours later full of praise for the pub. We therefore went for lunch two days later, the food on offer was excellent, beuatifully cooked and of a high quality, we drank wine which was OK but the men got to grips with the local Skinners brew and the more they drank the more fulsome their praise. We will be back next September for more! The City Inn isn't easy to find, the paper in our hotel said it is 150 yards from the shopping centre but it is probably a bit more and is tucked away under the railway viaduct.
