The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers

one of THE Great pubs, just don't go in the summer/christmas holidays as it's ambiance is somewhat ruined by the crowds of braying holiday homers and trustafarian hippies. Beer and Ciders excellent, as is the idea of not doing food - only thing available is a pastie or slice of quiche!

Roaring fire and oldeworld charm top off a brilliant experience. (if you go in the week as I said!)

The Scott Arms, Kingston

When this pub was run directly by the Pubco it was appalling and I never went in. Surly ever changing management, miserable staff, everything run right down as far as it could go to save money.

Now the change is amazing - it seems there are now landlords in charge who moved in during the summer, and everything is better. The top bar is open, busy, beer and ciders good, food is amazing too. I am going to make sure I go here a lot more as long is this continues.
