The Millstream, Marden

Went back to the Millstream as planned this Easter, in fact twice. Even better. Delicious kipper mousse starter. Excellent roast on the Sunday - if a bit pricey. Really tasty pork loin on the Tuesday night and another in the party had very fresh fish and chips from the bar menu with home made tartare sauce. Pint of Wadworths 6X was well kept - nice wine list too particularly the Chilean Cab Sauv. Argentine Shiraz sdly sold out. Local Yellow Pages has a clip out coupon for a free bottle of house red if four diners eat Tues-Thurs. Wonderful dining room and garden. Not surprised if the locals are priced out of here - these are London prices but it made us holidayers very happy. They even gave us a lift home so driver could relax and have a drink!

The Millstream, Marden

I'm very surprised to read these reviews. We spent a week at a nearby rented cottage in Wilsford during May 2008 and had dinner twice at the Millstream - both times were excellent. We have booked another week at the cottage this Easter (2009) and plan to have a meal at the Millstream again - in fact it's one of the main reasons why we'll be returning to this lovely part of Wiltshire. We found the landlady very welcoming and professional, the surroundings enchanting and the food excellent - particularly the grey mullet starter which we have tried to copy at home. We have two children - aged 12 and 10 - who also enjoyed their visit. We very much look forward to our next visit. It would get 10/10 if the steak was slightly less fatty - but that's how picky we are.
