A little off the beaten track for visitors to York but well worth a visit.

Seven real ales are available with five regulars and two rotating guests.

Friendly staff and regular live music.

Cask and Barrel Southside, Edinburgh

I visit Edinburgh once or twice a month and always make a point of visiting this pub.

There's always eight cask ales on, three regular and five guests, which are rotated very regularly. There's also a good whisky selection which includes their "malt of the month" at, what I think is, a discounted price. The staff are very knowledgable and know their beer.

This is a proper real ale enthusiasts pub. Edinburgh has many of them these days but none are better than this.
