The Crown Hotel, Peebles

6th April 07, my wife, daughter and myself had the misfortune to call into the Crown Hotel for a meal. We were told to sit anywhere as none of the tables were ready. We waited for service and nothing was happening but at least we entertained by a rather tall gentleman who doubled as a waiter. Meanwhile i got a cloth and cleaned the table myself as the staff just kept dissapearing. Eventually we got the order in and had a drink whilst waiting. Specifically ordering no ice and pointing this out on the drinks arrival the ice was uncermoniously thrown out a side door which then would not close due to being fouled by electric cables hanging loose outside.(Health and Safety) Yes the meal was good but this was interupted by dogs barking at one of the tables,jack russels i think (Hygene). We waited for a sweet, finally my wife got the attention of the tall commedian and asked him could we have a sweet, his answer was "No" pointing out my daughter had not eaten her vegetables. We thought he was go to get menues but he again disapeared never to return. At this point we had had enough i paid for what we had eaten and left.
