Golden Lion, Romford

The GL has improved 100% since John the manager took over last year. Previously it suffered from abysmal managers who should never have been put in charge of anything, let alone a proper, traditional pub. Now food is good, service friendly and if you're looking for excellent real ale, it's the only place in Romford worth bothering with. Live bands every Saturday, folk club Wednesday and the Thursday Blues/Rock Jam is great. A few weeks ago they had bluegrass bands on Sunday afternoon. I notice there's even a book club meeting there, which must be a first for Romford! I've never seen a bouncer on the door because the GL attracts people who behave themselves properly. As mentioned by Bob Marks, without doubt the best pub in Romford.
