The Duke of York, Pomeroy

We visited the Duke of York in Pomeroy, about 7 miles from Buxton where we were staying. The Pub was recommended to us as we have a dog, and it is dog friendly - in fact the owners have one of the largest dogs I have ever seen (looks over the bar at you!), although one of the nicest and softest too! The beer is a good mix of the usual pumps, plus one regular real ale and a guest beer. The brewery is Robinsons. We also ate in the bar (they have a dog-free restaurant too), having had an excellent meal, at very good prices. The pub has a large caravan site attached, and the landlord told us they were spending in excess of £300k building new facilities and hard standing, which sounds ideal if you camp. The atmosphere is cosy with an open fire and all in all we had such a good time we went back the next evening too!
