Hobs, Forest Hill

This pub is okay so long as you go in with low expectations. The decor is dark and to be honest it doesn't look like much effort was put into the refurb. This pub is let down by the owner who puts more time and effort into promoting the comedy club (this is held upstairs from the bar) then he does in promoting the pub as a whole. It does have live music but this is very hit and miss and tends to be aimed at an older generation. It is good for quick drink but not somewhere you would choose to spend an evening out and it doesn't do food either which means it looses out to such places as, The Capitol, The Dartmouth Arms, Question Bar and The All In One, in fact pretty much all the other pubs/bars in Forest Hill.

The Question, Forest Hill

Visited Question yesterday and was decidedly unimpressed. Ordered a salad only to find the salad part of it missing and just ended up with a plate of chicken and bacon in caesar dressing instead. When I placed a complaint with the Management I was told that they appeared to be unable to accommodate my requirements (had only asked for extra lettuce)and that they thought it was best I didn't come back. Having eaten several times in this bar before and having always had excellent food and been dealt with in a respectable manner I found this somewhat
aggressive stance by the owner surprising. I have to agree with the last review placed in October 2006 and say that the service is not what is used to be.

All Inn One, Forest Hill

Just been to the All In One and found it absolutely excellent, the staff were friendly and polite, the food was good(had sunday lunch) served piping hot and cooked really well followed by a delicious dessert. There is ample seating and the outside areas are presentable and well kept, there is also live entertainment on the weekends which keeps this pub out of the category of last of a dying breed. Would definitely return without hesitation.
