Carpenters Arms, Bethnal Green

A great little place, sufficiently tucked away to avoid being swamped by Brick Lane tourists. This is a great example of how it is perfectly possible to take a traditional East End boozer an reinvent it for modern tastes while retaining the original feel and character.
It's not particularly cheap, but unless you fancy drinking in a Weatherspoons these are the kind of prices you can expect to pay in this part of London.
