The Cricketers, Dorking

Although quite small on the inside, which means it can be very busy around the bar, there is always a welcome to be had. I like the pile of board games, which can always be a pleasant distraction on a sunday afternoon or evening alongside a game of darts at the back.

Serves a decent pint, and has a wide selection during their very own "Dorking Beer Festival", and served up by friendly and chatty bar staff. Occasionally has a live band, and when there isn't a band on the music is usually quite chilled and never so loud that you can't have a decent conversation. A place for locals, but not in a cliquey way.

Haven't tried the food, and nor have I grown an onion, which seems to be something the pub is involved in!

The Falkland Arms, Dorking

Being new to the area I have tried a number of pubs, and find this one to be by far the best. Both Gary and Chrissy are hugely welcoming and friendly, and incredibly good fun. It is spacious inside, including a large dining area which can be busy on a Sunday (though never oppressively so) and the food is very nice too. Very good Sunday lunch, and a great curry that is brought in at half time during the pub quiz on a Wednesday evening.

There is a good selection of beers: it is a Youngs pub, so there are also regular guest ales from their range (e.g Winter Warmer)

It is very pleasantly decorated, making the most of the light. There is a lovely open fire, which has been great during the winter months, next to two huge comfy leather sofas. Decking out front and a large garden around the back for the summer months.

Whilst it does have a large TV, it isn't overbearing, though Gary is a huge rugby fan, so this place is a must for any internationals (if only for the banter that accompanies it!).
