The Chequers, Little Gransden
A real 'local' where visitors are made to feel welcome by the regulars and the proprietors alike. Excellent ales brewed on the premises in the 'Son of Sid' brewery plus a guest beer usually on tap. On chilly days a blazing log fire is kept well stoked.
The emphasis is on good ale and good company. Food is available on Friday evenings to order in advance. Sadly not local enough for me to have tried this yet. Other times it's crisps, nuts etc or of course liquid sustenance! It's a pity simple snacks, e.g. sandwiches, aren't available but then maybe the fire wouldn't get stoked or something else would suffer!
If you haven't visited this pub then do yourself a favour and experience it for yourself - make sure you don't have to drive otherwise you'll miss out on sampling the beer! :- )
