The Fisherman's Rest, Lymington

Interesting to note that there have been no postings since August 2007.
We found this pub a few months ago and first impressions were that it was a nice frendly place. The first time we had their crabs claws they were excellent. thereafter for the next three times they reduced in size somewhat and literally had no meat in them. A disaster. Even the "Chefs" curry seemed watered down.

Main critisism though is about the service. DIABOLICAL. I went to the bar to order some drinks and stood there and stood there while three girls were helping each other to work the till. Literally, I was 1m away from them and it took 2.5minutes for one of the girls to realise that someone was waiting. I loked at one of the regulars sitting there and he said "just can't get the staff these days"

At out table, we waited a full twenty minutes for someone to come over and take our order watching what seemed to be a new landlady or a relief who was more interested in brushing her hair with her hands (very good advert for helth and cleanliness) and making small talk with the three regulars in the bar. We gave up in the end and went to the pub round the corner which was very busy and friendly. This pub I feel could be quite a goldmine but with the lack of direction from the top and poor quality of staff it will never compete with others in the area.
