The Heavitree Arms, Bideford

Friendly pub, friendly locals too. Not grand, but a proper pub. Only real ale I could see was Otter when I went in. Quite a few signs up around the bar warning of the dangers of drink (can contribute to domestic violence etc) which put me off a bit, but there seems to be little need for them.

The Wayfarer Inn, Instow

Been here a few times, and always busy. Staff have always been accomodating, but it would be well worthwhile booking if you want food, I've been lucky but I've seen people who haven't. Beer and food good and I thought priced about right. Doom Bar and Landlord when I went in. Also stayed in accommodation earlier this year and that was fine, but couldn't get a mobile signal.

The Westleigh Inn, Westleigh

Friendly pub, mix of locals and tourists, beer garden, food decent and reasonably priced. Felt at home there. Buses from Barnstaple and Bideford and a 1/4 mile walk up the hill if you're driving.
