The Morgan Arms, Mile End

My wife and I on a visit to London went for a meal with her brother and his partner who live locally and who had eaten there a number of times before. The food was excellent, not cheap but no more than we would have expected for London, the atmosphere convivial and the service pleasant. However the evening was ruined at the end by a row caused by the management's quite unnecessary refusal to allow my wife and I to pay with Northern Irish (sterling) notes. (This was before the Northern Bank robbery!) No good reason was given, it was just policy. The manager could easily have shown some flexibilty and common sense but did not. We would not go back and I doubt whether my brother-in-law and his partner will either.
