The Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace

One of my favorite pubs in South London.

Great selection of ales and whiskey. Comfortable seating. Extremely polite and helpful barstaff. We also go especially to hear the bands on the weekend who always turn out to be very accomplished and experienced musicians.

The music styles range from rock and roll, swing, rhythm and blues, blues and sometimes reggae. Also with jazz bands on Sunday and Monday.

It is fantastic to see and listen to live music.

Escape from the deadening mummer-mummer of Wetherspoons and live a little while you still can!

The Bell, Sydenham

Friendly bar staff, two good pool tables. A really big beer garden. There was Jamaican-style food cooked on a barbeque which was very good.

They hold a jam night every Sunday evening, apparently in the Summer months it is held in the garden! We had a very pleasant evening listening the good quality musicians jam away.

My only criticism is there isn't a selection of ales on tap, only bottles.
