Six Bells, Boreham

I Have to agree with other reviewers that the food is at the top end of pub prices but. there is home cooked food available which I expect to pay a premium over the commercilly frozen and heated meals so many pubs and other chains rely on. The disappointment was the quality. We had a fish dish and abeef stroganoff. The fish dish was tasty but overcooked tuna finished up being left. The steak in the stroganoff was also overcooked which togetheer with poor quality meat meant a lot of excercise for the teeth. Vegetables were mixed in quality and on the soft side but well within acceptable limits. Service fine, decor pleasant, check out the old speckled hen to drink, portions middle of the road, but I wont be rushing back

The Ye Old Green Dragon, Brentwood

Others who have seen my reviews know they can be scathing, but how I wish this was my local. I've now eaten here three times with others giving a total of over twenty starters, main courses and puddings and each of the meals have been great pub grub. The atmosphere of the British pub is unique and if I had to direct a tourist towards something that unpretentiously meets all that is good of a modern independent local in historic setting I would be happy to point them in the direction of Ye Olde Green Dragon. - St8tsman
