Ship Hotel, Flamborough
I was in a party of ten, including my two year old daughter, that visited this pub for a meal having booked a table several days earlier. One of our party was celebrating a birthday a day late, having been working away the day before. The staff at the pub seemed quite happy to take the birthday cake we had brought into the kitchen and bring it out with the candles duly lit. We of course sang Happy Birthday as the cake was placed on the table which, as things transpired, clearly upset a party of three elderly and, it has to be said, rather snooty people occupying another table.
After finishing our meal and drinks it took a few minutes to get ready to leave the pub as we had to prepare our two year old daughter for the walk home, i.e: jumper, coat, hat, gloves and the rain cover for her pushchair. As anybody with children will know this can take a few minutes. At was at this point when one of the elderly diners rounded on us and remonstrated with us for our perceived rudeness. Her manner was a total disgrace yet seemed to be supported by the waitress who, quite astonshingly, ordered us to leave. I have never been spoken to loke this before and was exceptionally offended.
Never again while the Ship inn benefit from my custom or that of any of my family,
