Lovely, traditional, family-run pub. The building is Victorian mock gothic, and was built by local encaustic tile manufacturer William Godwin. Examples of his tiles can be found throughout the building, and the collection on the cellar floor attracts tile geeks from around the world.
The food is traditional pub menu, plus daily specials, all cooked from fresh. Sunday lunches are especially well thought of. The real ale is Wye Valley Bitter, and this is sometimes joined by an ale from Otter Brewery.
Real fires, dog-friendly, juke box, folk music third Friday of the month.
