The Nags Head, Bishop's Stortford

The Nags Head is a very interesting building in the Art Deco style, and as such is listed both internally and externally.
Unfortunately it has been struggling for many years, due mainly to lacklustre landlords and a non-interested pub owning company who were more interested in the value of the site it stood on as a building plot. It finally closed in November 2008
The pub owners initially made moves to sell the land for building, but were thwarted by the listing status of the building. Fortunately McMullens took a more enlightened view on the building, bought the freehold in April of this year. They are
currently doing a major internal refurbishment, to bring the building back to close to its as built condition. I have not seen the works in hand, but McMullens are saying it will be a breathtaking job when complete. They are hoping to open the
pub during this summer.

The Rising Sun, High Wych

This is a delightful pub. Never had a hand pump fitted - all beers are dispensed by gravity. Normally three beers on. One will be Courage Best, the other two will be guests. You can marvel at the sight of a pub that does not have a lager tap.
