Washington, Blackpool

Pretty much a typical centre pub that sees it's share of tourists and locals that don't really drink ale (It's all Greene King and Old Speckled Hen) - all has that vinegar taste most people mention. Large inside and basic, with a limited selection of everything, and it's usually quite quiet. Only saving grace when I went in is one member of staff who was quite friendly.

If you're a younger drinker - or just a young person at all - I wouldn't go. They are unusually strict about I.D even if you have it. , even asking Star Signs and all, to the point where it's unnecessary (really) - and I've heard this off quite a few people.

Really, I would say give it a miss to anyone.

The Hop, Blackpool

The Hop is really your average local pub that sees quite an interesting mix of characters (Sometimes bizarre) due to it's location just on the transition between town centre and the residential areas but also near Blackpool's red road of seediness (Cookson St. - avoid, trust me).

There's no real ale at all so if you're a real drinker, there's not much of a reason to go - although the bar staff are incredibly friendly. Quite busy and popular and has plenty of TV screens for sports and a pool table.

Just a friendly average local really.

Cedar Tavern, Blackpool

The Cedar Taven is relatively cheap although quite an average quality central Blackpool pub that rests on the fine line between the tourist vibe that really isn't to everyone's taste, (Meaning karaoke, and plenty of holidaymakers on summer weekends) and the friendly local (Meaning fair range of beer/ale, nice staff and bands playing now and then.)

Last time I went in was fairly pleasant. There was a good, warm atmosphere. The barman was talkative about the beer and current punk festival (Rebellion) and quite friendly. Two ales were on (Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, Thwaites Wainwrights) and the large display of clips behind the bar showed me they usually have more variety. It's quite a marathon trek to the toilet (or crawl) but you can manage, and there is a variety of different seats to sit on (Normal tables, leather library-esque sofas and chairs).

All in all, average pub with nothing big to complain about and better than a lot of other Blackpool pubs. I'd go back and it's worth a quick one.
