The Blacksmiths Arms, Adversane

Having read a recent review, I had some trepidation about dining at the Blacksmiths Arms but, as it transpired, this was totally unfounded. After a pleasant reception, we had a very enjoyable meal accompanied by an off-wine list Merlot that was recommended to us.

The restaurant menu is centred on a carvery presentation, with further options � including vegetarian � if a carvery is not to your particular liking. My partner selected Irish beef and I opted for the pork, both were premium cuts, well cooked and presented with roast potatoes and a self-selection array of vegetables (within which was a subtle use of herbs that do not immediately present themselves but come through slowly).

In summary, if you want chips with everything and screaming children running amok, then the Blacksmiths Arms is certainly not for you; but, you prefer refined dining in an undisturbed environment of quiet tranquillity that allows one to savour the food then I would certainly recommend that you give them a try.
