The Trumpet, Bilston
At the time of writing - (07/04/2014 @11:07hrs) - I telephoned the 'The Trumpet', once the jewel of live Jazz in Bilston.
I thought to first check before we got there to about disabled access; specifically, the toilet.
Spoke to the owner with regard bringing a buddy of mine who is wheelchair bound and a Jazz lover thus, do they have a disabled toilet? His response was that they have a toilet so anyone can use it.
Clearly, the owner is ignorant of certain 'special' needs of people with such requirements. The only way I could think of, upon his request and embarrassment, was to manhandle my friend into the toilet cubicle as the chair would not fit. So much for the preservation of ones dignity.
I find it remarkable that in the 21st Century, certain establishments, due to build age are exempt by Law in the UK but you would think they would do something to cater for disabled needs i.e. toilet provision?
Bottom line - If your in a wheelchair and in particular have an incontinence condition, do not go to The Trumpet in Bilston - said but true..
