The Old Thatch Tavern, Stratford Upon Avon

Food good, but kitchen staff go home AT 8-00PM AND DO NOT SERVE AFTER THIS.
We recently had to forego a dessert because of this so only had a main course. The desserts offered were not what we wished to order so we left disgusted at the so-called hostelry. What eating establishment, effectively kicks patrons out when they have not finished dining?
I shall certainly not recommend this place to anyone and definately will not go there again. I'd rather eat at a McDonalds which I hate!!

We called in about lunchtime for a drink and were quite impressed with the overall ambience . The bar staff (young) were most obliging and helpful. As the bar area was full we asked if we could sit in the dining area and to also look at the menu for our evening meal. As a result we booked for an evening meal at 7-30pm.
We arrived a little earlier and placed our order. The food was very good and we looked forward to ordering our desserts. By the time we place the dessert order, around 8-15pm, we were told, by the most apologetic young waiter, that the kitchen staff had gone home and there was only limited desserts available. I told him it should be the kitchen staff that should be apologising and not him. I expressed my concerns about this poor state of affairs and that as we were still dining ALL services should still be available. WE WERE NOT TOLD THAT THE KITCHENS CLOSED AT 8-00PM!! Our evening dining was thoroughly spoilt by this very unusual arrangement and went home without any dessert. We (and most people I know) generally dine around 7-30 to 8-00pm and make an evening of it. I have NEVER BEFORE come across a dining establishment that closes so early in the evening. At no time were we informed that the kitchen would close at that time and I think that is a very poor show. I also seriously think that the proprietor should reconsider this aspect for future reference and rectify it or give up evening meals. Until this matter improves, I shall not be dining at The Old Thatch, at any time in the future.
