The Ship and Mitre, Liverpool

Mixed feelings about this pub as the beer selection is always very good and the seating at the back is plush. The decor needs improving though-pictures instead of bare walls would create a cosier atmosphere. One of the barmen, though he may well be the salt of the earth when you get to know him, can look at you as if you are something stuck to his shoe when you politely place your order!

Doctor Duncans, Liverpool

I think this is one of Liverpool's finest. Cains is a top brew and the variety on offer is always good. I recommend the 5% Formidable Ale - very quaffable and sent me into "alternative reality" land very quickly. No,not legless just pleasantly woozy.
Nice traditional front bar, a bit Dublinesque, not so keen on the back room-tacky- but the Dispensary part is tops.
Staff pleasant. Haven't tried the food yet but I go for the beer!
