The Bridge Hotel, Stanford Bridge

Popped in for the first time in ages a few weeks ago. I had always remembered the Bridge to be a very good pub and I wasn't disappointed to find that it still is, if not a little better. It seemed to me to have a much brighter ambient feel to the place, the bottom room that had once seemed to be isolated had undergone a bit of a re-fit and now gives the impression of being a nice snug little place to watch sport or have a game of pool. Regards the food it was much to my approval, and being the greedy bugger I am I ordered 2 starters and a main, in hindsight one starter would have been more than enough as the dishes were more than enough to satisfy my appetite, the main course(roast beef with all the trimmings) was beautifully prepared, the meat cooked just right and a huge accompaniment of veg to go with it. The standard of ale was as I had always remembered it to be, plenty of choice, reasonably priced and all good quality cask ales. Although not a cider drinker I was impressed by the range of bottled and hand-pulled ciders available.. Looking forward to the summer and going for a few pints in the beer garden.
