The Burrell Arms, Haywards Heath

We called in at this pub on weds 13.4.11 and could not have been made less welcome by rude and frankly hostile staff. To start with almost before we had sat down we were told we'd have to leave if we didn't buy drinks. There were 5 of us, 4 of us bought alcoholic drinks, one just a coke, as he does not drink alcohol. To our complete amazement he was told he had to buy alcohol when we asked why they changed their stance and said they'd 'let us off'. Worth noting that our non drinking friend is Asian- go figure! We were told to buy drinks again as soon as we had finished our drinks. Instead we asked if we could buy food and were told only if we bought drinks. Needless to say we left as soon as possible. No one else in the pub was treated like this. Will be looking to complain to owners - thought the days of behaviour like this was long over - clearly not. Don't go here
