The Leather Bottle, Hemel Hempstead

Why is this pub not better than this.
Such a great looking boozer but something is just sooo wrong with it.

On this occasion, the pub had a couple of kids running up and down the bar area.
My wife thought they were the Landladies, but could not vouch for it.
The kids ran back and forth between the end of the bar with the TV screen... up to a group of fairly well-oiled folks at the far end.

Their was one bar staff on duty ... and er well sort of strange!
She was wearing some sort of hat indoors.... and her cheery welcome when I approached the bar was to just stare at me over the top of her eyes!
I waited a few seconds then she said "can I help?" in a sort of Catherine Tate, 'whatever' way!

The choice of real-ales were just the standard fair. Just 2 available when I visited. The others were off-sale! What happened to the Timmy Taylor Landlord?!
The taste was well, sort of a little strange... The pint was clear, but just had a sort of sharp twang to it, my wife thought it had a smell like a-hint-of-bleach!

Oh well, suppose I will have to drive to the Six Bells and stick to just to the one pint...
Mind you, I only had the one pint on this visit and left!

Shame... I want this pub to work... its in walking distance, but every time it just seems to disappoint.
