Wainwrights Inn, Great Langdale

Extremely disappointing!!! The pub is located in such a beautiful scenic area it is a great shame I had such a bad experience at the pub, to the point I will NOT be returning.

At the weekend the sunny weather must have brought many people out, therefore the pub was very busy; however this should not excuse the poor quality of service and attitude from staff, especially waiting on staff. Firstly I had to queue for 15 minutes to get a drink where other customers who came after me were served first, secondly (when you have eventually decided what you would like to order for your food) you then need to go and stand in another 15 minute queue at the bar to place your order and to find out they have run out of the food you asked for�. Then when you have chosen something different and ask for chips instead of garlic bread no they can not do this�..garlic bread wasn�t even allowed to be brought out as a starter because it isn�t a starter!!!! So we ordered chips as well, but a member of staff had charged us for 1 too many portions therefore we asked if she could do a refund and she didn�t know how so she pointed us in direction of another person who said she would do it when finished our meal��.. Eventually it got done. Food was disappointing as well, particularly for the price of the meals, expensive for what it is! Finally last orders were called at 11pm and the a lady came around shouting at us to get out at 11.15� telling us to go and banging chairs and telling us we can have plastic cups to take our drinks! She had a disgusting attitude and was obviously stressed with he busy shift. We complained about the bad service and she told us never to come back which we won�t!!! I do not believe that is the way to treat customers especially tourists, I have never felt so unwelcomed. I would also not expect this from a pub that has been placed in The Best Pub Guide for 2009, they really do not deserve it. It is obviously the location that helps this pub to succeed, nothing else�..
