I've got a special place in my heart for this place. I was asked to leave for asking for water. Since then, I've heard countless stories of Dave being a total arse to both his regulars and casual customers. Shouldersarms, we get it! you love the place. Your devotion is really touching but your multiple reviews only reflect your experience. It's wrong of you to dismiss or criticize other peoples reviews based on their experiences. If you read reviews on this site and others (Trip advisor) you'll see that the vast majority of reviews all refer to poor service from one member of staff. If you think that being verbally abused, bullied or humiliated should be part of your night out for such serious offences as drinking too slowly, asking for loo roll for the ladies toilet, drinking soft drinks or any other mind boggling reason, then I suggest you are in a very special minority. Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy visiting The Dispensary and I look forward to reading your glowing reviews in the future. Cheers!

The Dispensary, Liverpool

Visited This pub on 24/09/10.Liverpool & District CAMRA pub of the year.Beer was kept well,espescially the Sarah Hughes.However after a friend asked for a glass of tap water things took a serious turn for the worse!The manager ranted that we should buy bottled water from him as we wouldn't go to a shop and ask for free water.He went on to shout how he is on a water meter and there was no way we were getting water unless we bought a bottle from him.We've never experienced anything like this before,having always been given a glass of water in every pub we've ever visited.As of 6/04/10,this year,by law,any premises with a license for drinking on site has to make available free tap water to it's customers.When we explained this we were asked to leave!Great pub ruined by an idiot manager.See previous post about a guy who was told to buy another pint or leave after watching most of a football match but made the mistake of finishing his pint with 10 minutes of the match left.Priceless!
