Raby Arms, Hartlepool

Quite a busy place. It used to be good here but the standard of food has definitely headed south. We are a family group of 7. Last year the food wasn't bad, this year, one meal was sent back as unacceptible and several of the others were only partly finished, we told the staff we will not be returning, ( not that any of the staff seemed very bothered )

The White Horse, Duns Tew

Stayed here with " she who must be obeyed" In late July 2007. Stayed downstairs in the stable block. Requested two ham sandwiches to keep us going til dinner. �9.90p !! and that was for two slices of DRY bread each and a slice of ham. Dinner was excellent quality, but certainly not worth �29.. We stayed for 5 days in the old stable block. The door wouldn't shut properly, when I commented, I was told the problem had started the previous day and would soon be rectified, ( False!, it was never fixed ) and anyone staying in room 4 will find the the door exactly the same now, unless the proprieter reads this first. The room was never cleaned, I deliberately filled the bath to a different level each day, so by the time we left, there were 5 tide marks, and the resident spider in theupper corner of the bathroom was never disturbed. I only had one drink there, a bitter that cost me �3.00. After the first day, we didn't eat or drink ther again, apart from breakfast, which was a joy to behold. 1 fried egg, one sausage, two rashers of bacon and one and a half slices of toast, oh, and one cup of coffee!! In general, over-rated and seriously overpriced. At �70.00 a night, I at least expect the bath to be cleaned!
